Six men, from Anatolia, Morias, Chios, Crete, Peloponnesus and Cyprus respectively and a tutor from the island of Kos, hear of the news about the destruction of Ibrahim’s armada in Navarino (1827) and gather in a tavern to celebrate the event. Yet, the celebration will soon give rise to a series of misunderstandings, since each one of them uses his own unique local idiom. “Babylonia”, according to the director of the performance is ‘a conclusive and picturesque record of he geography of local idioms in the Greek territory[…]that surpasses a purely linguistic iocus, because the dialects depict real emotional states[…] and shine like charming, autonomous Kingdoms of equal power, that do not turn into an obstacle for the heroes communication but rather become the cause for a deeper understanding among them.
