People's Theatre

When it comes to a theatre of public interest, the philosophy of every directing manager is obliged to meet society’s needs, demands and expectations. The common link connecting repertory plays are the theme, poetics and aesthetics of everything that comprises what has been known as the people’s stage from ancient times to date in all cultures that have developed the art of theatre. For this reason, the NTNG establishes the People’s Stage to be housed in “Sokratis Karantinos” stage at Lazaristes.

The People’s Stage –a key pole of decentralization - will be presenting Greek or foreign plays which will be testimonies and confessions of people’s lives, plays with which the audience can identify. We would like to create a dynamic audience in the western quarters of the city. TheMunicipalitiesoftheareashouldconsiderthePeople’sStageastheirown, as the causeand result of citizens’ visions, where the citizen is no longer only at the receiving end but also functions as a participant in the making theatrical magic and drama practice.
