Opera of Thessaloniki
The
Opera of Thessaloniki
was founded in December 1997, through the initiative of the Organization ‘’Thessaloniki, Cultural Capital City of Europe, 1997’’ as an independent section of N.T.N.G. with the initial name Chamber Opera of Thessaloniki. In 2002, the Ministry of Culture renamed the opera to 'The Opera of Thessaloniki', ensuring at the same time its financial autonomy. During these years, the Opera presented many important productions of famous plays of the international operatic scene, many of which were collaboration with major foreign opera artists as well as Greek artists with international recognition.
Thessaloniki Chamber Opera is repealed in accordance with the article 58, Law 4002/2011 as a separate part and is merged with the National Theatre of Northern Greece, which will hereafter meet the purposes of the Opera.
