Martinu's opera 'Greek Passion', was composed in 1957 and is based on Kazanzaki's novel 'Christ Recrucified'. His heroes - the inhabitants of village -following an old custom, decide to represent the Divine Passion and the Crucifixion of Christ. Both this fact along with the arrival of a group of refugees who seek a piece of land in order to restart their life, will bring to surface the real personality of the heroes, with the relations and differences among them, the conflict between the mighty and the week (including their defenders) and will lead to the tragic conclusion. The performances of the opera - which will be presented for the first time in Greece - will take place on June 10, 12, 14, 16 18 and 19, in the internal courtyard of the Eptapyrgion citadel.
