Presented on the 50th anniversary of his death, this play by O`Neill takes place at the end of the 19th century, at the home of the all-powerful Manon family, when general Ezra, the 'talk of the town', returns triumphantly from the battlefield. His comeback signifies the start of a circle of violence amongst the family, which had begun years earlier and will lead to inevitable ruin. The Manon family members try to live and leave the past behind, love, restore justice, and be saved, but their efforts prove to be in vain.
