Α few words about the play
The NTNG invites high school students to a “Philosophy Workshop—From Socrates to Artificial Intelligence” where they can acquaint themselves with philosophy ancient and modern in an innovative, entertaining and theatrical way. The most important philosophers of all time (including Socrates, Epicurus and Aristotle) are brought to life on stage in an educational programme created by Giorgos Chatzivasileiou that highlights the core of Greek and Western civilisation: Philosophy.
The Workshop is suitable for all ages and includes: a) Screenings of the documentary series “Animated Philosophers”, written and directed by Giorgos Chatzivasileiou, which presents complex philosophical theories in an accessible and entertaining way through animation and interviews
b) A lecture on what philosophy is, what it means in our everyday lives, and what philosophy has to contribute today in the era of artificial intelligence c) Theatrical games with philosophical interaction (mind games) Two different programmes are scheduled: a) “Ancient Philosophy: Socrates and Epicurus”, which highlights the importance of philosophy in our everyday lives (November 2023 – January 2024) b) “Contemporary Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence: Who does the future belong to?” (February – March 2024)
The creator of the “Philosophy Workshop”, Giorgos Chatzivasileiou, has a Ph.D. in the Philosophy of New Technology and an MA in Political Philosophy. He is a journalist and documentary filmmaker and lectures on the philosophy and challenges of technology. He has a wealth of journalistic experience in major audiovisual and print media. He has written the book “Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence—A Journey into the Future”. He is born and lives in Thessaloniki.
