The operetta The refugees in Greece presents a historical event concerning the Greeks who lived in the area of Caucasus during the period 1923-1926. When Caucasus came under Soviet rule in 1920, those Greeks who did not believe in the new regime for religious, political or social reasons, immigrated to their homeland, to Greece, their motherland. Some managed to adapt to the new status quo, but others returned, not having found what they were dreaming of in Greece. The performance is presented in the dialect of Pontus and in modern Greek.
