A woman takes a trip back in time and is flooded with memories of her tough childhood years, her hard life working the land, her drunkard father, the match-making and her wedding to Nikola, her hope that she would be rescued from her bitterness and troubles and finally enjoy all that she had been deprived of. Faces and events from the past come alive during the flashback of this almost symbolic female figure and we become witnesses of a very hard life, that embraced both pain and joy in an equally generous manner. This true story of a woman from Ambelakia in Thessaly in reality depicts the portrait of the Greek mother, who has learnt to resist life's adversities and draw strength from them. The performance is framed with ritualistic elements from wedding ceremonies, as they have survived in our folkloric tradition, and takes us on a voyage with music from the soul, the passions and the longing of centuries, which have their root in the Greek land and its people.
