In the context of the “New School”, an initiative of the Greek Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, the National Theatre of Northern Greece is delivering “The NTNG in Education”, a series of specialized educational programmes, in cooperation with the Departments of Primary and Secondary Education, in five regions around Greece (Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Epirus and Thessaly).
“The NTNG in Education” is part of the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Greek Public Sector.
“The NTNG in Education” is intended to support schools in their role as spaces of democracy and equality. In practice, theatre becomes a path to knowledge and participating students work creatively in relation to their surrounding reality and stand together as equals and co-creators. At the same time, through various activities, the programmes presented in the framework of “The NTNG in Education” give students hands-on experience of the theatre. Students take on roles, explore various themes experientially and delve deeper into concepts related to solidarity, diversity, freedom and harmonious coexistence. Finally, the last phase of the “The NTNG in Education” that is currently realized, aims to facilitate networking among the participating schools. With the NTNG’s support, the schools can also continue to work with their teachers on the basis of relevant material provided to them. The ensuing network permits schools to share the results of their work with the rest of their school and local community through the exchange of actions and experiences.
