Director’s Note
Breakfast: The barber Ivan Yakovlevich finds in a loaf of freshly baked bread his wife made someone’s nose. He wraps it up in a rag and gets out of the house to throw the nose away.

Breakfast: Major Kovalyov looks at himself in the mirror and finds out that his nose is missing-it is not where it used to be for so many years.

The one who lost his nose is trying to find it.
The bureaucratic maze is unable to help him find a solution to his problem.
He leaves his home after covering his skin where the nose is missing with a handkerchief. He does not want to be exposed. However, there is a rumor going round the city that some assistant has lost his nose.

People are gathering to see this weird spectacle of a man who lost his nose.
He addresses the crowd and persuades people that noses could not stand the dirt and bad smells and escaped to the moon. Because of the weight, the moon will fall and then crash to the earth.
All of them are trying to hold the moon so it won’t fall.
Is it a dream or reality?
Can a nose provoke rebellion?
