Permanent Costume Exhibition: Traces of the Ephemeral
Permanent Costume Exhibition
“Traces of the Ephemeral”
Vassiliko Theatre
The
Costume Exhibition “Traces of the Ephemeral”
that presents the 56-year history of the National Theatre of Northern Greece has become an integral part of
Vassiliko Theatre
.
The exhibition will continue throughout 2017-2018 theatre season. Part of the rich wardrobe collection of the NTNG has acquired a permanent home in the city centre, easily accessible to the public, whose interest confirmed the Theatre’s expectations.
The NTNG Costume Exhibition is part of the Partnership Agreement Operational Programme “Central Macedonia 2014-2020” (ESPA 2014-2020) and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Public Investment Programme (PIP). For this reason, all the informative material relating to the exhibition is published in both Greek and English.
Costumes of high aesthetic value, from landmark plays staged at the National Theatre of Northern Greece during the 56 years of its existence, are displayed in specially designed display cases that blend into the space of the foyer. The exhibition is curated by the set and costume designer
Ioulia Stavridou
.
The majority of the material has been renewed: 69 of the 80 overall costumes have made way for others that were held until recently in the NTNG’s wardrobe department. Audiences have the chance to admire even more theatrical attires, tangible tokens of the ephemeral art of theatre. The material is organized into the following sections: Ancient Drama, Middle Ages-Byzantium, 16th-20th centuries. This time, the costumes cover a large part of NTNG’s history and showcase interesting aspects in the development of costume design.
The exhibition comprises works by renowned Greek designers, including: Giorgos Anemogiannis, Anastasia Arseni, Giorgos Vakalo, Vassilis Vassiliadis, Spyros Vassiliou, Denny Vachlioti, Apostolos Vettas, Rena Georgiadou, Nikos Engonopoulos, Damianos Zarifis, Liza Zaimi, Giorgos Ziakas, Afroditi Koutsoudaki, Kleovoulos Klonis, Gianis Kyrou, Kenny McLellan, Ioanna Manoledaki, Giannis Metzikof, Agni Doutsi, Panos Papadopoulos, Ioanna Papantoniou, Phaedon Patrikalakis, Giorgos Patsas, Nikos Sachinis, Dionysis Fotopoulos and others.
The NTNG’s renewed costume exhibition begins Friday, June 1st, 20189 at Vassiliko Theatre.
