I left my grandparents' hearth And the fire burning with no light. .................................... All that united me with my childhood friends Our tied hands in our games, Our eyes closed as if we were playing Blind man’s bluff. All of us, young and old, stand embarrassed when faced with the topical issue of refugees and immigration as images of pain, misery and unjust death come to life every day before our very eyes and find their way inside our soul and mind, reminding us of the violence and the absurdity which afflict humanity. Aiming to inform and raise awareness in young people on the timeless issue of immigration – to and from Greece – and the refugee crisis, and to instill into them the concept of diversity and the importance of solidarity, the Cultural Affairs Department of the Secondary Education Directorate of Western Thessaloniki organised the Schools’ Network action, Between Two Worlds: Refugees - Migration in cooperation with the NTNG. As the main support institution, the National Theatre of Northern Greece has assisted by organising two meetings between the school teams and actors of the NTNG: Efi Drosou, Lilian Palantza, Yolanda Balaoura, Vasilis Karampoulas and Iordanis Aivazoglou, who gave their support by carrying out theatrical activities for the students. Participating schools will stage in a special event the results of these actions, an event to be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016, 19: 00 - 21: 00. The event is hosted as part of the Festival held by the Pavlos Melas Municipality and will take place at the Christos Tsakiris Cultural Centre. Dr. Xanthippe Vasiliadou, Head of Cultural Affairs of the SED of Western Thessaloniki, is the Network Coordinator. Mrs. Maria Tsima, the Associate Artistic Director of the NTNG, is responsible on behalf of the NTNG.
