The main subject of the plot deals with a crazy old woman who leaves abandoned as a wild beast in a village and accepts the influences of the events and the people leaving nearby. He has lost her husband who emigrated and her five children, each one representing , indirectly a piece of the Greek History and of modern reality. The Setbacks is a play deeply Greek depicting in a sharp way a precise image of Greek reality, which has as a base the urbanism and the partial brutalization of the people who rush to towns. The thing that gives another dimension in the play is the lunatic Kyra-Leni who serves as the connective element of the scenes and links the present time with the past and the future. She lives again through the various episodes of her life and the successive loss of her five children. This diachronic element that Kyra-Leni introduces, emphasizes the Greek nature of the play.
