Thesmophoriazousae - Aristophanes
Opening: Ancient Theatre of Philippi, Kavala, 27/07/1974

Thesmophoriazusae, the women who celebrate Thesmophoria, decide to call a general meeting to talk about the measures they will take against Euripides so as to make him stop malign for them in his plays. After a fierce accusation they decide that the punishment he deserves is death. Then, Mnesilochus, relative of Euripides borrows women's clothes and enters disguised in their meeting in order to defend Euripides. The Chorus consists of women who defend with zeal the peace and their rights while the subject itself (the position of women in the society) lends the play a diachronic opportunity.
