Nine Desolate Voices

Nine Desolate Voices - Christos Samouilidis
Opening: Avlaia Theatre, Thessaloniki, 17/01/1974

The basic idea of the play is the absolute loneliness of people in the contemporary social, friendly, family and love relations. The playwright explores the untrue external contact of people and their superficial relationships leading to loneliness, the lack of communication and the existential deadlock. At the same time with the acts of people, we hear in the limelight their meditations, which are materialized, in voices and bodies giving a different dimension on those things, taking place on stage. Those internal voices reverse the external behaviour of people and create a comic structure resulting to the creation of an original absurd element round the subject of loneliness.
