Asterios Peltekis was born in Thessaloniki. He graduated from the Drama School of the National Theatre of Northern Greece and holds an Integrated Master’s degree in Theatre from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Cultural Management at the Ionian University. He has attended seminars in Greece and abroad led by Peter Brook, Bruce Mayers and Sotigui Kouyate on a scholarship.
He speaks English, French and Spanish.
As an actor and director, he has collaborated in more than fifty performances with the National Theatre of Northern Greece, the National Theatre of Greece, the Cyprus Theatre Organisation, the Pallas Theatre, the Οnassis Stegi, and independent theatres. Cavafy, at the State Conservatory and “Plefsis” space; Milan Kundera 1-0 at Booze, 2010; The Land of our Dreams at the Athinaion Theatre; My Romantic History at the National Theatre of Northern Greece; UpOla at the National Theatre of Northern Greece; 68 Moments and Dreams at the Egnatia Theatre; A dangerous game, adapted from William Gibson’s Two for the Seasaw, at the Zampelas Art Museum, which was nominated for the Directing, Best Actor and Music awards (and winning for direction and music) at the Theatre Awards of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation; La Celestina by F. de Rojas and Chekhov’s Three Sisters at the Pantheon Theatre, Nicosia; Exiles by G. Papazoglou at the Alkmini Theatre; and Ioannis Kapodistrias: in the footsteps of a great leader, which he wrote in collaboration with P. Adam-Veleni and toured Corfu, Aegina, Nafplio and Athens.
He has participated in numerous television series including Almost Never, dir. N. Perakis; L.A.P.D., dir. S. Blatsou; Silent Road, dir. Vardis Marinakis; and films, including If You Love Me, dir. Chr. Ketikidis (Leonidas, the lead role); Under your Make-up, dir. V. Seitanidis (supporting role), which was nominated for Best Supporting Actor award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival; Invitation to Dinner, dir. S. Amoiropoulos, short (the writer, lead role), which was nominated for Best Actor award at the Drama Short Film Festival; In the Kitchen dir. S. Amoiropoulos (lead role), which was nominated for the Best Actor award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.
He teaches Acting, Theatre History and Theatre Theory. Ηe teaches acting, improvisation and elements of directing at theatre workshops and drama schools in Athens, Thessaloniki and Nicosia. Co-founder and director of the “Anefproigoumenou” art company. Founder, president, producer and director of the “Ano Throsko” art company, Nicosia. Collaborator and culture and theatre consultant at the Festival of Andravida Kyllini 7.
He teaches Greek to immigrants and refugees on a voluntary basis.
