Helen is an orphan who is growing up in the house of the Countess of Rousillon, under her guardianship. She is in love with the Countes's son, Bertrand but her love is unrequited. However, when the King of France becomes seriously ill it is Helen who manages to cure him, using an old therapeutic remedy, which she inherited by her father, a renowned doctor. Then, as a reward from the King she asks to choose her husband among the courtiers. And of course she chooses Bertrand. He, on the other hand, refuses to accept this marriage and flees to another country. Helen will experience many adventures until she conquers her identity, her life, her love.
