Angelos Sikelianos , transferring his personal dream the 'Delphian Idea' on the stage, that is the free meeting and contact of people in a center of modern Amphyctionies, created the tragedy 'Dithyramb of Rose'. In this play Sikelianos creates a dramatic dialogue between Orpheus the poet and his pupils, where with the sermons of love, the necessity of battle for the salvation of people of the suffering and the birth of a new spiritual background coexist. The union of the world round an ideal it was the first thing that Sikelianos was dreaming of. From the symbols of Orphism, the ear of corn, the vine and the rose, he chooses the last. As Orpheus gathered the sheep and the wild beasts round his music, Sikielianos as well wants to gather all people around this rose. The tragedy was written in 1925.
