Madeleine, an old actor, in her prime of her age, lives the glamour of her memories with the help of a young lady, who comes everyday keeping her company, minding with love and patience to remind her every time a story. On hearing the song 'Les mots d' amour' (the Words of love) Madeleine remembers a story and begins composing it through her uneasy memory. The story talks about an actor who is dying every evening on stage, for a passionate love between a man and a young lady in the coast of Savannah, the birth of a child, fruit of this love and for the death of the young mother 'suddenly one summer'. This story has shocked Madeleine who did not stop to interpret it through all her roles in theatre's stages. Duras creates a magic world from memories and silences 'speaking' for love, passion, and death, through a conscience pursuit of the time and truth.
