Plato's Apology of Socrates
2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017 National Theatre of Northern Greece, NTNG International activities
Plato's Apology of Socrates
Repeat: National Theatre, Belgrade, Serbia, 13/11/2016
Opening: Thessaloniki, Municipal Garden Theatre (Theatro Kipou), 11/07/2015
With the Apology (Apologia) the ancient Greek civilization reaches its upmost expression, for the reason it had been incarnated into an actual and undeniable hypostasis with the lifework of Socrates, who wittingly concludes on death, rather than to loose his freedom and his joy of living an active life, based on his beliefs.
The purpose for the use of the original ancient text by Plato in this certain theatrical performance, is not for a simple ingenuity reason or a narrow literary or historical quest, but it has been our need, from the hearing of the "voice" of the original text, to listen and to experientially feel the emotions and the ethos of Socrates.
Staged in the original Ancient Greek text, with supertitles in modern greek and english.
