A well-written comedy of characters and of social criticism with authentic Greek elements in its style, in the sketching of the roles and mentalities, in the comic brainwaves and in the brilliant conflicts of the persons. The writer uses an apt satire and treats the dialogue with theatrical skill. The originality of the play is based on the quick and harmonious plot, in the credibility of the characters and in the directness of its humour. Central figure of the play is a good-hearted grumbler, who near him Psathas places persons of his environment, aiming at the many-faced analysis of the first. The young nephew, with the matures flirts, the romantically in love young men, the knowledge mediocrity of the pre-war official and the double-faced hypocrisy of the bourgeois, are the subjects which dominate in the play, also in the post -war years.
