The mermaid and the witch, the two main characters of the play, carry us in worlds where the real and the imaginative are getting mixed. Yesterday and today obtain unity and although we all know that mermaids no longer exist, who wouldn't ever want to meet one? The fairy-tale of Maroula Rota, written in poetic atmosphere and language, includes the element of adventure, placed in the space of the dream. An intensive element, which characterizes the play, is the cultural and the mythological memory, inspired by the popular fairy-tales. Impregnated from people's anxiety for survival and the necessity for reconciliation with themselves and their social surrounding, the play has the power to convey us the collective memory of people in the different periods of civilization.
