The Plebeians of Rome are preparing to revolt against the Patricians. Marcius excelled during the war for his bravery and thanks to him the Romans conquer the town of Corioli , event which becomes the cause to call him Coriolanus. His insolence provokes people to claim his exile and then Coriolanus goes to Corioli's enemy where they kill him. The play has the ancient Greek tragedy as a model not only for the simplicity of the form but also for the concentration of interest on one character.
