“Tournament 5x5” is drawing near, the festival organized by NTNG, which owes to the new artistic forces in our city. The first of the five theatrical productions that will be presented at Lazaristes Monastery – Studio Theatre is “Tonight at Stratford” by the NόVAN Theatre Group.
 
“Tonight at Stratford” is a twisting play within a play that attempts to track William Shakespeare’s first steps as an author and sheds light on the so-called “dark years” of his life.
 

 

 
About the play
“Tonight at Stratford”: a theatre company is ready to perform their play. The audience has taken their seats. The actors, the costumes, the setting and a fine play… everything is ready!
 
But... they have no idea what awaits them “Tonight at Stratford”! What determining role will the Duke and his mistress play? Why does her birthday turn into this theatre’s nightmare? Who is that supposedly talented cousin Wilhelm Philious Johann Shakespeare? How is a drama transformed into a comedy and a comedy transformed into a drama?

NόVAN Theatre Group
The theatre and performance group NόVAN Theatre Group was created in 2010 by the actress, animator for theatrical groups and director Lena Petropoulou and Konstantinos Melidis, actor and theatrical song animator. The company is based in Thessaloniki. NόVAN Theatre Group numbers more than 30 members, professionals and amateurs. The group works mainly on physical theatre, improvisation, theatrical song, the co-operation with musicians and visual artists of the city as well as on the collective creative expression.
