RAINBOW SUNDAYS at the NTNG, 9 April (31/03/2023)

Rainbow Sundays at the NTNG

“Femininity & Gender Inequality”

Sunday 9 April 2023

Theatre of the Society for Macedonian Studies

Admission free

The NTNG is staging a series of parallel activities which seek to contribute to the public conversation on issues of broad social interest.

The second series of actions, entitled “Femininity & Gender Inequality”, will take place on Sunday 9 April at the Theatre of the Society for Macedonian Studies; admission is free. It will focus on femininity and gender rights, examining stereotypes, entrenched power relations, and chronic practices long imposed by the patriarchy.

The choice of theme was prompted by works in the NTNG repertory, specifically Giorgos Sevastikoglou’s “Angela”, directed by Dimitris Bitos, and the production of “Erotokritos” directed by Argyro Chioti, who focused on Aretousa in her approach to the play. Chioti also incorporated a poem written by the Iranian poet, Rahil Fallahfar, into her production. In addition, one of the NTNG’s current productions,

“Algorithm”, is a “composition for two women” in which Alexandra Kazazou and Eleana Georgouli bring historical events of the last century to life on stage through the viewpoint of two women who become entangled in a game of remembrance and forgetting.
