A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE PLAY
Two Dauphins, Kazimir and Philidor by name, are awaiting a decision: which of them is to be the next king. Kazimir—impatient, insecure, authoritarian. Philidor—gentle, kind and good-natured. Or maybe not? In between them, a servant charged with their safety and handling the waiting process. But how does waiting work when the big clock misleads about the passage of time? When will the big decision come, and which of the two Dauphins is suited to the throne?

Thomas Moschopoulos addresses issues of power and rivalry in a text that overtly engages with Beckett in both its writing and its content. In a claustrophobic environment in which the element of threat is inherent, we wait and wait for something to happen, while the characters converse as they struggle to communicate. A communication sabotaged by puns and comedic repartee in an ongoing struggle for supremacy and... survival. The power struggle gradually turns to dread as the two Dauphins trace a course through decline to fall.

This is the first time the play will be presented nationwide.
