THE “IN-HOUSE THEATRE” IN NORTHERN GREECE
The
National Theatre of Northern Greece, with the financial support of the
Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, is extending the orbit of the
"In-House Theatre" to major municipalities in the prefectures of Macedonia and Thrace in the summer of 2013.
With the
Evros prefecture as its starting point, the
"In-House Theatre" began broadening the nature and field of its operations from
Orestiada last week, organizing visits to vulnerable groups and to individuals who do not have access to theatre.
On Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21, the "In-House Theatre" successfully carried out visits made in collaboration with the program "Help at Home" in the town of Orestiada and the villages of Evros: Nea Vyssa, Kyprinos, Spilaio, Plati, Elia & Komara.
Alexandroupolis followed, where the "In-House Theatre" visited the Open Care Centre for the Elderly in Alexandroupolis. It is worth noting that within two days a total of eight visits were made by the "In-House Theatre".
In the framework of its social policy, NTNG is continuing a series of actions (in our city, in the prefecture of Thessaloniki, in the surrounding areas and in other prefectures in northern Greece) directed at those groups which do not have access to theatre, as it considers that the involvement of citizens, especially those suffering illnesses, in expressions of culture such as theatre is important for their quality of life and their social reintegration.
To date, NTNG’s
"In-House Theatre", which started its activity in the summer of 2010, has made a total of
187 visits.
