The family peace of Nora Helmer, wife of lawyer Trovald, is at threat each time the doorbell rings. The undesirable guest threatens to uncover an innocent mistake of the past, a well-hidden secret, which can jeopardise her marriage and destroy the whole edifice of conjugal bliss. Nora is late to realize that apart from the easy role of a carefree, young wife, she is also obliged to compromise with the cruelty of urban society, and this leads her to behave in an unpredictable manner and come into conflict with her own self and her surroundings. This classic play by Henrik Ibsen, reveals the contradictions of the female psychology in a diachronic way, and simultaneously takes a cynical look at urban hypocrisy and social conventions.
