The play of the great Spanish writer deals with the story of an old man who is getting married with a young woman through a match. Their incongruous marriage meets problems, which are aggravated with the drastic interference of the neighborhood, through meanness, jealousies, gossips and intrigues. After an important crisis, the couple gets together and realizes that a deep love unites them. Lorca, believing in the force and the power of the popular theatre, talks for the manners and customs of people and also for the universal value of love. His story is enriched by poetic elements and is presenting as a theatrical "fairy-tale" with songs, dancing scenes and elements from the puppet theatre.
