The “TAN” show is a journey and a quest. It tracks the perpetual course of the human race through time. The first beat, the first sound, the first dance. This primeval state of the body that vibrates and pulsates, the suffering body, the body that communicates beyond the logic of the world of words to the irrational and the unknown of the world of dance. A sacred, folkloric ecstatic, ritualistic dance. Man, confronting the Incomprehensible, wishing to communicate with it, dances what cannot be said. In European languages the word “dance”, “danza”, “tanz” stems from the root “tan”, which in Sanskrit means “tension” and this is the exact target of the show: to bring us in contact with this primordial tension, creating the conditions under which the spectacle and the spectator become one. Perhaps what we nowadays call contemporary dance and its future lies in our roots.
