General Meeting of the Union of European Theatres in Nanterre (13/04/2010)
The National Theatre of Northern Greece has participated in the General Meeting of the Union of European Theatres in Nanterre, Paris, represented by its Artistic Manager Mr. Sotiris Hatzakis and its Public Relations manager Ms. Amalia Kontogianni.
The participation of NTNG in talks and contemplations on issues of philosophy and strategic planning of the Union was very active and rekindled the latter’s interest in Thessaloniki.
Sotiris Hatzakis suggested that the following Meeting of the Union should take part in Thessaloniki in 2011 and fall within the framework of the celebration for the 50th anniversary of the NTNG, under the umbrella topic: “Ancient Drama: Greece’s gift to World Theatre and the answer of the theatrical community: A Century-old dialectic. Its evolution and development in contemporary world’.
Also, NTNG has started its cooperation with Portugal and other countries within “Odysseus” programme which focuses on research, workshops and performances on the issue of refugees. For this reason, Sotiris Hatzakis has already started his contacts with refugees living in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece in order to discuss their participation in the aforementioned programme.
