Lazaristes Monastery – Studio Theatre

SUITABLE FOR MINORS OVER THE AGE OF 15

“Friday Bloody Friday”: the fifth and last performance hosted at the Studio Theatre of Lazaristes Monastery during the “5x5 Tournament” organized by the NTNG.

About the play
The performance “Friday Bloody Friday”, inspired by Good Friday, explores the relationship of the community with death.
Following the Gospel and the vespers of Apokathelosis (Descent from the Cross) as dramaturgical axis, it explores the notion of the body as the border of communication with others, its progressive wear and finally its end. The play includes elements of performance, visual references and texts as a sequence of
reading-narrative-melody-theatrical acts patterns.
The second part is based on the documentary theatre technique, using excerpts of 40 interviews, regarding death and loss.
A performance where direction serves as the element of dramaturgy.
7 actors interacting with the present time, and their dialogue with live music, approach the triptych body-death-memory.

Ouk Nouk theatre group
Ouk Nouk theatre group is an open co-operation of people working on all aspects of theatre: actors, directors, dramaturgs, light designers, set designers, costume designers, production managers etc.
Their common ground is their studies at the School of Drama and the School of Visual Arts, AUTH.
Their main concern is to explore the means of expression, to develop technique and integrate the theatrical form, aiming to find the most suitable possible combination for each scenic venture, while their ultimate goal is its dialectic and aesthetic reception by the spectator.
“Friday Bloody Friday” was their first work, launched in January 2014 at Kleio Theatre; it was the diploma project in direction of the School of Drama postgraduate student, Panos Delinikopoulos, supervised by Michail Marmarinos; it was also presented in February 2014 at the Municipal Theatre Melina Merkouri as part of the Festival Theatrical Premieres 2014. “Exile” by Pavlos Matesis, a diploma project in acting, supervised by Victor Arditti, was then launched in June 2014 at Kleio Theatre; it was also presented in December 2014 at the Municipal Theatre of Kalamaria Melina Merkouri and in April 2015 at the Municipal Theatre Aneton as part of the festival Open Stage – Theatrical Voices of the City 2015. “Exile” toured in summer 2015 in Crete and was performed in Sitia, Neapoli – Aghios Nikolaos, Heraklion, Rethymnon, Chania and Kissamos.
