THE NUTCRACKER in collaboration with the Dance School ''Aspa Foutsi'' (26/11/2014)

THE NUTCRACKER
Royal (Vassiliko) Theatre
Premiere: December 23

The National Theatre of Northern Greece, in collaboration with the Dance School “Aspa Foutsi” presents P.I. Tchaikofsky’s The Nutcracker at the Royal (Vassiliko) Theatre. Premiere: December 23.
Only for a limited number of shows.

A magical journey back to childhood is enough to inspire a masterpiece. P.I. Tchaikofsky’s The Nutcracker, a work of incomparable lyricism and tenderness, is a musical composition with a dream-like, dark narrative on the land of imagination, overflown by dolls, nymphs and thousands of flowers.
On a Christmas eve, little Clara receives a nutcracker as a present: a soulless puppet which she holds in her hands as she falls asleep. Then, she immerses in a strange dream where leaden soldiers, rats and bats are caught in a battle. Having her little wooden nutcracker for her guide, Clara comes face to face with her fears and doubts, but also with new and unknown emotions.

A note by Aspa Foutsi
The Nutcracker was a personal thing – an old and intense wish of mine. Its time had come in April 2014, when it was staged by collaborators and students of my School at the Royal Theatre. In this juncture, and thanks to the kind invitation by the NTNG for a series of shows in December, it’s time to open its wings, for new adventures.
The National Theatre of Northern Greece suggested that we maintained its customary connection to Christmas. The festive ambience emotionally elevates the incomparably inspiring music by Tchaikovsky, and establishes the Nutcarcker as a classical masterpiece.
The show you will attend was once again made possible thanks to the students of the School, who participate with enthusiasm.
May our expectations for a delightful show be fulfilled by the Christmas Spirit.
