BIG DAY Tribute to the playwright Tennessee Williams on Sunday 8/3 at Vassiliko Theatre (05/03/2014)

A day-long tribute to the major American playwright Tennessee Williams, scheduled for March 8, 2014, is coming next in the “Big Days” series of activities, organized by the National Theatre of Northern Greece (NTNG) in order to introduce Greek audiences to great playwrights of world theatre, whose works are currently being staged at NTNG venues.
 
During the tribute "Big Day Williams", from 10:00 a.m. until 17:00 p.m., the following activities will take place amongst others.

ACTIVITIES
 
10:00 “Workshop on Tennessee Williams & presentation”
A workshop on Tennessee Williams which will result in a performance. The participants are expected to attend the course and embed in a performance which will presented afterwards.
For drama school students

10:00 “The disillusionment of the American Dream through the heroes of Tennessee Williams. Figures in the texts.”
Discussion and theatre techniques with Tennessee Williams' plays as a starting point.
For teachers in secondary education and adults.

We asked three theatre groups of our city how they perceive certain plays by Tennessee Williams:

The following cultural institutions have supported the NTNG in its efforts to accomplish the thematic tribute “Big Day Williams”: the Thessaloniki Cinema Museum-Cinémathèque, the Museum of Photography, the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, and “Protoporia” bookstore.
