One of the most loved and much played plays of the modern Greek theatre belonging to the category of the ''Dramatic romance''. This specific kind is written in metrical fifteen syllables, its plot happens in the mountain tops, its characters are shepherds, young shepherdesses, and chief shepherds, wearing a kind of Greek kilt and expressing their joys and sorrows through dancing and singing. It's about a simple story of people with feelings and passions, given with intense theatrical tone, a comic style, common men and many folklore elements. Its structure is based mainly on songs and in the happy ending.
