Following the successful organization of the 1st Theatre Festival of South-Eastern Europe entitled 'Aspects on Ancient DramaΊ, which took place in Thessaloniki in the summer of 2007, bringing on stage eight contemporary aspects of ancient drama, the National Theatre of Northern Greece continues its efforts for an essential creative collaboration between the theatres of North-Eastern EuropeWith its global reach and humane character, ancient drama offers a wide field for research, creative expression and fertile dialogue on political, social and existential topics for the countries of North-Eastern Europe which have recently been -- and are still being -- tried. With this in mind, the National Theatre of Northern Greece is organizing the 2nd Meeting of the Theatres of South-Eastern Europe.The meeting will be attended by the artistic directors and representatives of the following theatres: National Theatre of Tirana, Albania/ National Theatre of Plovdiv, Bulgaria/ National Theatre 'Ivan Vazof' of Sophia, Bulgaria/ National Theatre of Skopje, FYROM/ Cyprus Theatre Organization/ National Theatre of Montenegro at Podgorica/ Royal Theatre 'Zetski dom' at Cetinje, Montenegro/ National Theatre of Bucharest, Romania/ National Theatre of Craiova 'Marin Sorescu', Romania/ National Theatre of Belgrade, Serbia/ General Board of National Theatres of TurkeyAiming to create the right circumstances for artists and theatre theoreticians, for an essential and broader perusal, the NTNG is holding within the framework of the 2nd Meeting of the Theatres of South-Eastern Europe, the following events at the Theatre of Macedonian Studies: A conference focusing on ancient drama, with Dimitris Maronitis, Sotiris Hatzakis, Stathis Livathinos and Dimitra Mitta on the panel, entitled 'Ancient drama today: approaches and prospects'. And the performance 'Voices of the Balkans' presenting short excerpts from ancient drama by the companies participating in the discussion, and accompanied by chorus performances of the NTNG with live music.
