Charis Vlavianos: He was born in Rome in 1957. He studied Economics and Philosophy in University of Bristol and Political Theory and History in Oxford University. He has published 7 poetry collections, with the most recent the collection ''After the end of beauty'' (2003) and an essay collection entitled ''The other place'' (1994).He has also translated: Walt Whitman, Ezra Pound, Wallace Stevens, John Ashbery, Carlo Goldoni, William Blake, Zbigniew Herbert, Fernando Pessoa and E.E.Cummings. A volume with essays by him entitled ''Minima Poetica'' as well as the translation of poems by Michael Longley and Wallace Stevens will be published in spring. His poems have been translated in Italian, French, Portuguese, Swedish, Spanish, and are also published in a book form in English, German, Dutch, Catalan and Bulgarian. In 1993 he set up the magazine ''Poiisi''(Poetry), which directs since then.
