, held in Berlin on 17 June at Ballhaus Naunynstrasse
by stage reading the play of Sotiris Hatzakis My own Arab Spring
NTNG’s artistic director presented, through his script, parts of the modern Greek reality, given through the eyes of a hero who organizes his own Arab Spring from a park’s bench, as he is now homeless after losing his job and family.
The performance was realized under the auspices of the programme “Wake Up” of the Union of Theatres of Europe
and was part of the festival “Voicing Resistance” that was presented at Ballhaus Naunynstrasse theatre in Berlin.
Apart from NTNG, many other theatres took part in the programme; National Theatre of Greece, Teatro di Roma and Teatro Garibaldi from Italy, Habimah theatre from Israel, and Schauspielhaus Graz of Austria all with scripts about the way Europe saw the recent political facts of the so-called “Arab Spring” as well as the depiction of the major political and social changes that are going on today in Europe.
These scripts will later be expanded to become independent performances that will be presented in the “Wake Up” programme of the Union of Theatres of Europe
, until the summer of 2013.
