Georgia Mavragani directs the theatrical adaptation of the award-winning collection of short stories by
Dimosthenis Papamarkos. Charecterised “a stunning confession”, “Gkiak” impressed both spectators and critics.
No One 17 and Under Admitted.
Director’s note
“And tell us, re Argyrako, how was it there in the war?”
A barbas (uncle) asks the honoured soldier, during the feast celebrating his return back home. He asks, in the annoying ignorance of the “peaceful” citizen, who does not “know” war and “such”. He asks, in no case expecting nor wishing for a detailed response.
But here, in the performance of Gkiak, this question will be answered in detail; all injuries, all acts that have remained untold and, finally, all of our “peaceful” hypocrisy will be revealed. A hypocrisy that is, at the same time, our vital lie. Our way to endure.
I would like to warmly thank all my collaborators-companions in this journey. All that is left is for us to see how life goes on
